The Fortress investment group is one of the largest investment groups in the country having been founded in 1998 by Rob Kauffman, Randal Nardone, and Wesley R. Edens its today headquartered in New York. It had remained a privately held firm till it was listed on the NYSE on February 9, 2007. This marked its transition from private to public company.
